Carleton University – Engineering Design Centre (EDC)
Ottawa, ON
Carleton University is committed to protecting and enhancing biodiversity on its campus. To avoid bird-glass collisions, the university’s design guidelines now call for bird-friendly glazing for windows in new construction and major renovation projects involving building exteriors. In their concept for the Engineering Design Centre (EDC), an extension of the Mackenzie Building, KWC Architects optedfor energy-efficient windows with AviProtek® E pattern 217 on surface 1 and Solarban® 70 low-e coating on surface 2. The windows were fabricated by OBE Montreal.
